1. How Postcard Pinning & Scatterbug Encounters Work

Vivillon (evolving from Scatterbug and Spewpa) is a unique Pokémon featuring 18 distinct regional wing patterns acquired through the Postcard Book mechanic:

1. Pinning Friend Postcards: Tap the Pin icon next to the Open button on gifts received from friends worldwide.

2. Pinning Your Own Postcards: You can pin up to 3 of your own outgoing postcards per day to make progress toward your local region (e.g. Continental in Central Europe).

3. Scatterbug Encounter Milestones:

1st encounter: 3 pinned postcards from that region
2nd encounter: 9 pinned postcards
3rd & all subsequent encounters: 15 pinned postcards

4. Evolution Cost: Scatterbug ➔ Spewpa (25 Candy) ➔ Vivillon (100 Candy). Wing pattern is permanently locked to the origin region of the postcard!

Pro Tips for Max Efficiency:

  • Instant Unpin Trick: Immediately unpin the postcard in your Postcard Book after pinning it. The medal progress is awarded instantly and your storage won't get clogged!
  • Always throw a Silver Pinap or Pinap Berry on every Scatterbug catch to quickly amass the 125 candies required for the final Vivillon evolution.
