Ditto in Pokémon GO: Current Disguises & How to Catch It
Live roster of all wild Pokémon species Ditto is currently disguised as, Shiny mechanics, weather boost rules, and pro catching tips.
1. How Ditto's Wild Disguise Mechanics Work
Ditto never reveals its true form on the wild overworld map. Instead, it masquerades as specific common wild Pokémon. Only upon a successful throw and catch does the iconic 'Oh?' transformation sequence trigger, unveiling the purple (or brilliant blue Shiny) Ditto.
Disguise pools rotate seasonally and during special events. Below you will find our live interactive tracker automatically synced with current server spawns.
Pro Tips for Max Efficiency:
- If a common species from the disguise pool has an unusually dark or red catch circle, it is very likely a Ditto!
- Deploy Razz Berries and Ultra Balls if a normally easy catch resists your throws.
2. Shiny Ditto Rules & Mechanics
Shiny Ditto operates on one critical rule:
If a wild encounter naturally appears Shiny as the base species (e.g. a Shiny Oddish), it can NEVER transform into Ditto upon catch!
Ditto can only transform into its brilliant blue Shiny form from a NON-shiny wild spawn.
Once a non-shiny disguise is captured, the game rolls a chance for the underlying Ditto to be Shiny upon transformation.
Pro Tips for Max Efficiency:
- Ditto spawns are identical for all trainers above Level 30. If a friend catches one, head there immediately!
- Keep in touch with local Discord/Campfire groups for instant Ditto spawn callouts.
